Amy Anderson

Amy is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-C) with over 20 years of nursing experience, dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to individuals across the lifespan.

She specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and more. Amy’s clinical approach emphasizes collaboration, trust, and a holistic view of mental health, recognizing the importance of biological, psychological, and social factors in achieving well-being.

Amy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University. She then obtained her Registered Nursing degree from Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. Following this, she completed a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) at Sacred Heart University and advanced her expertise by completing a post-master’s Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at Western Connecticut State University. Amy is credentialed through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

With a strong foundation in both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, Amy is committed to creating individualized treatment plans that integrate medication management, therapeutic strategies, and lifestyle interventions to support long-term wellness. She works closely with patients to explore treatment options, foster resilience, and promote sustainable mental health outcomes.

Amy brings extensive experience in working with Veterans and adults across the lifespan, delivering culturally competent, trauma-informed care that is tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Her clinical background spans a variety of settings—including inpatient facilities, outpatient mental health clinics, and community-based care—enabling her to provide comprehensive, person-centered support grounded in empathy, expertise, and respect for each client’s lived experience.

She is passionate about reducing stigma, advocating for mental health awareness, and creating an inclusive, supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered.

Her practice philosophy is centered on education, open communication, and compassionate care—ensuring each client is an active participant in their treatment journey.  She believes in treating the individual as a whole rather than focusing solely on the diagnosis, ensuring her clients receive holistic and personalized care that honors their full experience.
